Dear Michael I think I said in previous emails that we, Bill & Phyllis Manley ordered the plaque for our Uncle Don due to his beloved Rosie who passed away recently. We have used your service for the last 30 years as we have had Scottish Terriers for the last 40 years. Just to let you know that Fynlii,s memorial boulder arrived safe & sound this morning, along with the additional / unexpected replacement one for Shandiii , which really wasn,t necessary, but nonetheless very much appreciated! As you can see from the attached photos - Fynlii,s boulder (with its slightly curved profile) sits beautifully in its new setting. It,s quite a bit bigger than I expected, but in fact this seems rather apt as Fynlii was a rather larger than the norm Sheltie (affectionately described as a "whoppa") & he was most definitely a larger than life character! As per usual both stones are uniquely individual & so exquisitely carved, so I am once again taken aback by the end result, especially the fact that you were able to accommodate my request for the "6 ½years on Fynlii,s . which means so very much! You really do fill a niche when it comes to bespoke pet memorials & they always look so elegant yet natural in a garden setting. I just feel so very lucky that I found Bouldercraft all those years back (when I placed my first order back in the 90s) & that you are still providing the same high quality personalised service today. It is so nice to see / have that continuity. Its no small wonder you have so many returning customers like myself! As regards Shandii,s original memorial which has alas succumbed to the black lichen . now that I have the unexpected luxury of the lovely new one in place (which incidentally isn,t that far off both size & shape-wise from the first) I am still going to see if I can find some way of "cleaning" it up, even if only to feedback to / help you so that you are aware / can advise others in a similar situation. As I said previously, I very much suspect the problem (which only started over the past 12-18 months so was nothing at all to do with your workmanship) is due to the actual cut & porosity of the stone, which renders it more susceptible to lichen invasion. I have noticed that many of the commercial "black spot" treatments (which are rather costly) seem to be based exclusively on sodium hypochlorite (i.e. bleach) which both kills the lichen (apparently a symbiotic mix of algae, fungi & bacteria which thrives in damp, shady conditions) & removes the black staining. Several people on online forums have suggested that these commercial products are actually no better than commonal-garden Domestos & that they have achieved similar & long-lasting success in removing the invading black spots with same. So . as & when I can side-step the current C-19 lock-down & get out & about to purchase some . I,m going to look into trying various concentrations to see if any do the job! I,ll let you know how I get on in due course. I will also send you a virtual memorial submission for Fynlii at some point shortly (once I,ve decided on "the" photo) as it would be nice to also mark his passing in this way too (as I did with Shandii). In the meantime, sincere thanks once again for both the memorial boulders sent . I really can,t put into words just how much they mean to me & will do every time I see them in my garden. Dear Michael, We arrived in the UK yesterday and have got the parcel, which reached my Mum safely, thank you! My husband has sent a picture of it to his mother in France and she is very happy with it. We'll be taking it to her in Normandy in a few weeks time when we go back again. Hi Michael, My boulder arrived this morning (Sunday) and is lovely. All that we wanted and more. We are very pleased with it. The Parcelforce delivery went a bit wobbly after the parcel's arrival in Exeter but when I phoned and complained the acting depot manager found my parcel, phoned me back and delivered it himself within 20 minutes. Hi Michael, Thank you so much for our second memorial stone from you in memory of our darling Shih Tzu Molly - we are thrilled with it just as we were with our first purchase from you. So often these days quality and service are very hard to find but nothing is ever too much trouble when it comes to making sure your customers are happy and satisfied. Hi Michael I received the stone for Jasper, many thanks. Just to give you some feedback: The loss of Jasper was a shock to us, he was with us for 10 years and very quickly became ill with pancreatic cancer. We only became aware of this when the vet operated the morning we took him there as he just wasn’t himself, he decided sadly that it was best for Jasper if he didn’t wake him from the operation. I trawled the internet for several days looking for something I felt I could use as a memorial and found many that were in bad taste (Trying to be nice!) when I came across your site and the boulder I chose it was obvious the quality was what I wanted. Having contacted you I felt you were extremely helpful, asking for additional information was no problem to you and the response times from you were very quick. Dear Michael, This note comes much delayed I'm afraid, due to my having put the paperwork which came with my delivery to one side and then having it "disappear" until today. I received our beautiful memorial stone as a gift from my friend Sherry Kelaidis (in Greece), with whom you were in contact regarding the set up of the wording. She did tell me how helpful and kind you had been, especially in searching out a stone which would accommodate the fullest use of the maximum characters possible. I have wanted to write to you my own thanks for taking the trouble to do this... the plaque is just perfect, the stone is even Mickey's colouring, and the phrase which was added instead of a motif perfectly describes what our beloved four-legged family member meant to us. She is very much missed but your plaque is a lovely marker for our spot on a hill to "visit". We have planted it up with yellow daffodil and red tulip bulbs (for our yellow lab with the red collar) and so it will be nicely surrounded in Springtime by a colourful display for the happy times we had together. 'Rosco' has arrived home safely today and I am over the moon, it's beautiful. A tasteful,simple stone which speaks volumes.
I lost my husband very suddenly 18 months ago after a long battle with MS and Rosco was his guide dog. Together we got through the dark days but at 12 and a half he was old and tired and sadly I felt it was time to let Peter have his dog back, to walk and play as man and dog should. Over the 10 years we had Rosco we searched everywhere for a picture or model of a curly coated retriever to keep as a reminder, knowing full well that one day we would lose him, but never ever found one. When I saw your web site, with the motif, I knew what I had to do.
I know Peter would have been really pleased with the stone and I feel I've done what he would have wished. The stone now stands proudly under the tree in the garden where the dog's ashes are scattered and is a fitting memorial to a very special dog and a very special husband.
Both very much loved and missed but together again.
